Do Senators get compensated for serving on the Senate?
Senators do not get paid for serving on the Senate. The Senate, however, has a Compensation Policy which provides stipends for elected officers (President, Vice-president, Secretary and Treasurer), three Senate Committee Chairs and the Distinguished Teacher. For the 2006-2007 academic year, the President receives $12,480; the VP, Secretary, Treasurer and Senate Committee Chairs each receive $6,240 and the Distinguished Teacher, $2,080. The Senate additionally provides complimentary lunch at Senate and senate-sponsored meetings.
