Do schools have to book trips with ABTA approved companies? If they choose to go with a company that wasn in order to get a cheaper deal would this invalidate the school journey insurance cover?
ABTA are the regulatory body for British Travel Agents and tour operators and we would always recommend that anyone that books a trip should book it through an ABTA regulated agent or tour operator. If a trip is booked with someone who is not registered with ABTA then the school do run the risk that if a company folds they would have no chance of recovering any monies paid. The financial failure of a tour operator is not covered under the travel policy and this is not something that insurers are able to provide.
