Do SCBA users need to have a medical exam?
Maybe. A Medical Evaluation is required for anyone who must wear a respirator. This does not necessarily mean a full examination. But there are very specific guidelines that may require a Medical exam. The Medical Evaluation must be done by a Professional Licensed Health Care Provider or Physician (PLHCP). In addition to medical conditions that would require an exam the PLHCP may require it prior to clearing an individual as able to use a respirator.
