Do Russian women speak English?
More than a half of all Russian women have studied English at school. English is a compulsory subject at Russian universities and colleges and everyone who has a degree has completed at least 3 years course of English in the course of their studies. Even so Russian ladies often can’t speak English very well, because generally they have had little opportunity to practice speaking and writing outside of the classroom. They have learned some English but then forgotten most it because they have never been able to use it in daily life. But the fact that they have studied English forms a good basis for Russian women to progress rapidly if they have a good reason to improve their English. Thus you could expect her to speak English fluently after a few months of living in an English speaking country.
