The area in which you are building your home may have specific requirements not specified in the Building Code, such as heavy snow loads, high wind factors, substandard load bearing soil conditions,..etc. In such cases the local authorities may require engineering on the drawings, the cost for which would be the responsibility of the owner/contractor.
