Do rodent plug-in repellents actually work?

You are right, they don’t work. I’ve seen these plugged in, and sure enough, there was no rat poop within a foot of it. But that wasn’t much help, was it. But maybe there are more effective ones. Any repellent you use, the mice will go around it or rush past it. You need to find where they are coming in, and block the entrances. Check them now and then to see that they haven’t gnawed their way back through. What I generally do is stuff the cracks with steel wool and plaster over it with water putty; they won’t want to gnaw the steel wool. I don’t suppose you want a ferret. I’ve heard they are better mousers than cats are. Just kidding, I know you don’t want to.
