Do residents have opportunities for research during residency?
Many opportunities are available for residents to pursue research and scholarly activities. While having the time for on-going bench research is difficult during residency, house staff can “plug-in” to research labs during less demanding months if desired. Many residents work with faculty on health services or community-based projects, such as the school linkage project. The presence of our medical center within the main University of Chicago campus facilitates easy interaction for trainees desiring exposure to social sciences research or coursework.
