Do Republicans actually believe that cutting government spending will end the recession?
Its always good to reduce the size and spending of government, however, its not the answer or solution to our current economic plight. Government is the problem and always has been, the problem. I think your questions asks if republicans think doing the right thing with government is going to turn around our economy, if that’s what you mean, no, of course it isn’t. The public is horrified with the spending that Obama, Pelosi and Reid are collectively wasting. You have to expect an outcry to this atrocity, even some Democrats are horrified with the “change” that Obama has brought to America.
the business climate now is such that no one can plan for anything. There has been no positive direction taken by the current administration that has not been detrimental to business. Currently there is always the threat of a capital gains tax increase. That would have been done already if Obama had his way. Capital investment is risky. Increasing that tax increases risk. If you add a lack of revenue, increased government expenditures and the strong possibility of a tax increase that doesn’t show any incentive for investment. That means businesses can’t borrow money. That means businesses have to have money on hand in order to meat expenses and make payroll. There has to be less of their treasury invested. Let’s hear a financial genius explain how raising taxes will stimulate job growth. How will more poor people start their businesses and get that trickle economy started?
