Do regulations relating to packaging waste apply to businesses of all sizes?

0

Any business of any size that produces packed products, or places packaging or packaged goods on the market, must comply with the Packaging Essential Requirements Regulations. These regulations require you to: • minimise the packaging used • ensure packaging can be reused or recycled • ensure packaging does not contain significant levels of certain heavy metals. The Packaging Producer Responsibility Regulations require that businesses finance the recovery and recycling of specified amounts of packaging waste each year. You must comply with these regulations if your business, or group of businesses produces, uses or handles packaging or packaging materials and: • handles more than 50 tonnes of packaging in a year, and • has an annual turnover of more than £2 million.
