Do rates of cancer differ by geographical region in England?
The figures below show the cancer rates for the different geographical regions of England. In both men and women rates are lowest in London, the east and south-east and highest in the north-east and north-west. The figures below show the rates for the most common cancers. For prostate cancer rates were lowest in the north-east and highest in the south-west. For breast cancer rates were lowest in London and highest in the south-west. For lung cancer the pattern for men and women was similar: the lowest rates were in London, the east and south-east and highest in the north-west and north-east. For bowel cancer in men the rate was lowest in London, the east and south-east and highest in the north-west and north-east. In women the lowest rate was in London and the highest in the south-west.
