Yes, there must be a licensed radiologist who is responsible for the procedure. In order to be eligible for a Medical Radiology licence, the applicant must be registered as a medical practitioner in WA and have a specialist qualification in radiology recognised by RANZCR. The Medical Imaging Technologist (MIT) must also be licensed to operate the equipment. In order to be eligible for a licence, the MIT must be registered in the area of medical imaging technology with the Medical Radiation Technologists Registration Board of WA. A licence application form is available from the Radiological Council.
