Do rabbits carry diseases that could harm Guinea Pigs and how common is it?

Rabbits can infect guinea pigs in the same way that rabbits can pass diseases onto other rabbits, and humans can pass diseases onto other humans, only less likely. It’s possible, but not very common. Having rabbits and guinea pigs living together is very common, I’ve known countless real-life examples and I’ve never come across any diseases being transmitted. I also have a friend who keeps guinea pigs and quails together, and they get on quite happily. You just have to make sure that all the animals concerned get on well with each other. Guinea pigs are naturally very timid, whereas rabbits are generally quite assertive. Guinea pigs can greatly benefit from living with rabbits, but make sure the rabbits don’t end up bullying the guinea pig. However, rabbits are usually easy-going and can even be quite protective of their guinea pig companions. Making sure males are neutered is also a sensible precaution.
