Do qualified teachers who are from the European Economic Area (EEA) need to complete induction?

0

A – EEA nationals who are recognised as qualified school teachers in an EEA member state, may apply for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in England under the terms of Council Directive 89/48/EEC, without the need for further training. Teachers who gain QTS in this way are exempt from the requirement to serve a statutory induction period. The GTC administers this route to QTS and if you have any queries please contact the Teachers’ qualifications helpdesk (Tel: 0121 345 0140; e-mail: tqhelpdesk@gtce.org.uk). Article 8 of Council directive 89/48/EEC allows the competent authority, in this case the GTC, four months from the date of receipt of all supporting documentation to consider individual cases.
