Do protein shakes really make a difference in obtaining muscle faster?
in a nut shell….after a workout, your body goes into repair mode within about 2 hours and it needs protein to repair the muscles that have been exerted by exercise and of course to build the extra tissue required to make the exercise easier for the next time. So after a workout, consuming a good quality protein shake, will help in your workout gains. Now one thing to note is that the body can only assimilate 35-50 grams of protein in one sitting so taking any more than that will not do you any good and after a while could tax your kidneys. Protein also helps regulate blood sugar and keeps your metabolism going so a shake as a snack can be healthy especially if you are trying to trim some fat.
