Do professional singers have their voices edited when recording?

0

Almost any professional or semi-professional recording of a vocal would use EQ, compression and reverb. Delay, chorus and any number of effects could also be used. Autotune would generally only be used if a singer sang out of tune – it is intended to “force” out of tune notes into tune. It can cause loads of problems though. Often vocals are double-tracked (i.e. the singer sings exactly the same thing twice and both vocals are heard on the finished recording. Many of the Beatles songs featured double tracking – it’s that old an effect!
