Do professinal sports teams use private planes to transport the teams?
Large groups with money, and this covers sports teams, generally charter flights. Often they have contracts in place with a major airline or charter company. I work for a major airline and we often carry sports teams who have rented the entire aircraft for their personal use. This gives the teams great flexibility because can go to any destination they choose, at any time and pick any size aircraft needed. It is far more cost effective and convenient to charter an aircraft rather than maintain your own jets, pilots, flight attendants, mechanics ect.
