Do private security guards/officers need to read a defendant his Miranda warnings prior to asking questions?

Are private security officers/guards required to read a suspect Miranda warnings prior to asking questions. There are no sworn police officers present at time of questioning. For example: If a private security officer apprhends an employees for intrnal theft in a retail establishment, does that security officer have to provide Miranda warning as a sworn officer would have to do before questioning?
