Do Private School Students Have Any Rights? Friday December 14, 2007It depends. For example, if a private school student gets caught drinking, he is probably going to be expelled from school. In a public school that student would probably be allowed all sorts of due process. Not so in a private school. In private school you are covered by contract law. That’s another way of saying that your rights, if any, are defined by the contract which you signed with the school. I explain this in more detail in Students’ Rights.
