DO PRIVATE INSURANCE COMPANIES, MEDICARE, OR MEDICAID PAY FOR AIR AMBULANCE TRANSFERS?
A. Depending on the individual’s insurance coverage, many private insurance companies do cover air ambulance transfers. It is best to check with the insured policy for pre approval of the air ambulance transfer. Medicare will not pay unless it is certain that it is that the transport is a medical necessity. We are able to submit a claim on behalf of the patient once an Advance Beneficiary Notice is signed and sent to us.
