Do private caregivers have to meet specific qualifications?
Yes. All caregivers who have the designation of PA, PSW, DSW, RPN or RN must all meet specific qualifications and pre-requisites. In addition to their educational training and clinical placements, they must have a First Aid/CPR certificate and meet specific skill requirements. If they belong to a regulated or governing body (eg. College of Nurses of Ontario) they must also adhere to those regulations. All caregivers must abide by Bridges II Standards of Service as well as the Privacy and Confidentiality Policy.
