Do predators see more colors than prey?
Mammalian predators have eyes that contain mostly rod cells. Rod cells are similar to large “pixels” so their eyes are not very high resolution but they do collect more light for excellent ni vision. Mammalian predators generally see only green and blue colors and those colors that are created by mixing those two colors, but they are not able to see red. Mammalian predators are more senitive to movement than to detail. Avian predators have eyes made mostly of cones. Cone cells are equivalent to small pixels, so they can give a hawk or eagle high resolution and excellent color but poor night vision.
