Do power plants ever die like they did in previous versions of SimCity?
Power plants can blow up just like they did in the previous versions of SimCity. They blow up for different reasons in SimCity 4 though. As time goes on, the effectiveness of buildings such as power, water and garbage disposal will decrease. The better funded the building is, the longer it will take for the effectiveness to go down. If the effectiveness gets very low, you are spending a lot of money on something that is not doing a lot of good for you. It’s best to blow it up and build a new one that will produce more for the same monthly cost. If your buildings ever catch on fire, they may explode, and in the case of the nuclear power plant, this will lead to a city-ending event. A bad thing.
