Yes. remedial treatment is necessary if insects are present. Double the rate is used for prevention. Insects have to ingest timber treated with Mabon’s PROTECTIMBER and in doing so, die as apparently the Boron/ Boric Acid content in this stomachs destroys the protozoa that help digest cellulose causing the termite to die. Boric Acid and Boron based products have been used for many years for the control of insects. It is only now with the removal of organo chlorines , the breakdown of organophoshates and the change in AS 3660 that this safe product is coming into its own and the fact now in AS1604.1-2005 at H2 at .35%ww/w elemental boron.
