Do petroleum engineers work in new york?

0

You have to have oil & gas fields in order to have Petroleum Engineering jobs and New York is far from all oil fields and most all natural gas fields. Also, the closest Petroleum Engineering university would be Penn State. There is a new natural gas play called the Marcellus Shale which extends from West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and up into New York. However, New York has shut down all drilling at this time as they study the “environmental impact” of any new drilling. This might be remedied by the time you graduate from college. In the end the Marcellus Shale will not likely sustain natural gas producing companies for long in New York and you would have to move elsewhere for work or pick another profession.
