Do people with mild retardeness and that sort of disability, date and get married?
To what condition of “retardeness” (sic.) are you referring? Is that anything like being ‘flicted? I find the question to be genuine but choice of terms is poor. I don’t mean in a PC way but rather in an informed way. Disability and retardation are not mutually coexisting conditions. One does not alway accompany the other. The range of social skills by even profoundly impacted individuals is surprising to many. I had a cousin who by all appearance would have been institutionalized by the condition of her body and her speaking skills. Her mother would not allow that to happen and when a communication technique was worked out, in a parochial school with her mother in daily assistance, she excelled in primary and high school. She went on to college and attained RN/BA and MS degrees in record time. The Catholic University waived her practicums and concentrated on her strengths of mind.
