I don’t think that anyone intends to be homeless. We become homeless for different reasons, loss of jobs, bad relationships. When I first became homeless, I had my ex-husband walk out on me. Took everything I had. In the beginning I guess I probably could have handled the situation differently but I had a minor brush with the law for bad checks. I was responsible for allowing some checks off of my own account bounce and went to jail for them. Within days after I had went in for the arrest, he took everything that was worth anything financially and split. I came home to rent being behind (I had a job, he didn’t) Power being shut off. I eventually had to move out because I couldn’t catch up and moved in with friends. I have not had any real stability since then. I have never had a real problem with alcohol and I don’t do drugs.
