Do people think the only victims from the Holocaust were Jewish?
The Holocaust was responsible for the death of 11 million people. 6 million were Jewish. Yet, the number everyone always quotes when talking about the Holocaust is 6 million. I find it very frustrating. I think people forget about the others, because Jews were really the umm…for lack of a better word…inspiration. They were the only group that the Nazis wanted to wipe off the entire planet. I guess people forget about the Serbians, Russians, and Polish (and Communists) because they were considered enemies in the war, so you get a confusing mix of people killed due to allegiance and people killed due solely to nationality. The Roma (gypsies) were also targeted, but not as extensively, nor were any laws established to define who was Roma, as the Nazis did with their crazy laws about who was a Jew.
