When I was a teenager, it was a strict rule that you must put away your white shoes after Labor Day. I don’t know if that very important fashion rule applied in other parts of the country, but it was really important in my neighborhood. If you went to my school (in Delaware County, Pa) after Labor Day wearing white shoes, everyone would laugh at you and talk about you behind your back. Which, FYI, I never did. If it’s still a fashion no-no, I guess it’s time to clean out my closet.
