Do people ride their mountains bikes during cold snowy Winters for means of transportation?
A mountain bike or a road bike will get you around in the winter with no problems. Either will do fine in the snow. Neither, though is great on ice. But then, what is good on ice? Here are the keys to comfortable riding in the winter: For your feet you need wool socks and either toe covers on mild days or full-fledged booties on cold days. For your hands you need full length gloves. I like to wear my cycling gloves with wool gloves over the top on really cold days. Some people prefer mittens. Dress your upper body in layers. I personally like wearing a long sleeve undershirt, long sleeve jersey and water proof jacket. As long as my body core is warm, my feet and hands will be OK. If you don’t keep your body core warm, there is no amount of gloves, socks, booties, etc. that will keep your hands and feet warm. I wear a fleece hat under my helmet to keep my ears warm when the temperature is under about 40 degrees. Down to about 20 degrees I simply wear long cycling tights on my legs. Anyt
