Do people really “steal” each others names?

All the time. And it is for this reason that we never give our consent to make any changes to any domains registered through DomainName.com. We leave that strictly up to you. When you register to get your Member ID you tell us your e-mail address. Since it’s your domain and you can do with it as you please, any attempt to change anything about your DomainName must be acknowledged (permitted) by you. Any attempted change by a third party will result in your being sent an e-mail message so you can either approve or deny the change requested by the third party. With our state-of-the-art registrar management software we automatically protect your domains so that any attempt to steal your domains will be rejected by the central registry. If you, for example, sell one of your domains and the buyer wants to transfer it to a different registrar, all you have to do is unlock the domain in our “Edit Domain Details” section. As long as your domains are locked they are safe from theft.
