Do people really believe that Libertarian Party=Republican Party?
If you look at the laws most legislative bodies pass the vast majority deal with economic issues rather more than social freedom issues. Therefore, when not presented with a Libertarian choice on the ballot, may libertarian leaning people will vote Republican to protect their economic options. But put a burning social issue like gay marriage on the front burner of a particular race and you will see libertarian support for personal choice some to the forefront.
