Do people just use psychological disorders to excuse behavior they know is wrong?

Sometimes, I think so. (Honestly, I’m glad to hear someone else say it!). Some people are clearly unable to control their behavior, and some people are clearly so distanced from reality that they don’t know their behavior is unacceptable. Those people of course need to be excused, but I think they are the minority. For many disorders, such as bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, obsessive compulsive, and many others, the person knows full well what kind of behaviors are considered acceptable, how unacceptable behaviors effect others, and still have control of their behavior. Whining about their disorder does seem to be a way to do whatever they feel like. They also seem to play on the fact that no one else can fully know the degree of their impairment. They can always play up their disorder when they feel like it. I do understand the struggles of mental disorders, but if there are people with the disorder who are forcing themselves to do what’s right, clearly it is possib
