Do people in China really eat monkey brains while the monkey is still alive?
I am Chinese. People here certainly not eat live monkey or other live animals. Serveral years ago,an article appeared on the internet claimed that some resturants in the YunNan Province in southwest China offered live money. The article spreaded over every bbs in no day.All of us codemn the managers and the customers of such resturants. However,no one knows whether it is true or not of all the article has claimed. All I can tell you is:My friends,my family and I have never ate live money and have never heard of somebody have ate one.
yea when i was a kid in northern china near Mongolia they had live monkey brains they had a table where there was a hold in the middle and it split down the center where the monkeys neck would be locked so the head would be on top of the table and the body under then a man would come and hammer and chip away the top of the monkeys head where then they would apply salt and stir the monkey brain in to soup where the money was still awake
I go to China quite often. As far as I know they cook everything! It is even hard to get a fresh salad there. Now some of the things they eat have just been killed. I’ve been to a restaurant where the fish tried to jump out of the sauce but it was dead, and delicious, when I ate it. I think, in general, the Chinese have an aversion to eating live things so I absolutely doubt the story. That being said, they do have a recipe for about everything and Chinese food, in China, is much better than Chinese food in the U.S. except New York’s China town.
I’m not positive about the monkey still being alive, but i’m aware that people in China eat a lot of cooked animals, and i’m not talking about the usual Chicken, Beef, Pork or Lamb. The belief that the item is good for you in one way or another, and that’s why its being consume … There was once a saying by an Australian presenter/traveller – He said people in China eat anything that has legs except a table, and i totally agree!
