Do parents think they should hit their children as discipline?

0

I’ve only been spanked once in my entire life, and it was for doing something extremely dangerous as a very young child that almost resulted in serious injury. When I did something wrong my parents would discuss it with me. I had to explain why my behavior was problematic, and I was taught to learn from my mistakes and failure to do so implied not being very intelligent which was not something scoff at. It really kept me in line, and continues to. I don’t sit down and discuss every mistake with my parents, but I automatically reason out my actions and predict negative outcomes. I am a productive member of society, and have never had issues with the law. Also, I hold a great deal of respect for my parents and am very close with them. When I see how some of my friends turned out I am extremely grateful for the way I was raised.
