Do parent volunteers have to complete a Volunteer Application?

0

Any parent who wishes to volunteer is encouraged to complete an online volunteer application to serve at a school. However, Texas legislation (Sec. 22.0835 Subsection 2e of the Education Code – Chapter 22) added in 2007 does allow a parent to volunteer at his/her child’s school without a criminal records check or without providing any form of U.S. identification. Should a parent insist on not completing the application or providing a U.S. government-issued identification, the district requires that the parent be supervised by an adult/staff at all times while on the campus. The availability of such an adult supervisor is at the discretion and direction of the principal.
