Installing Air Conditioning was approved by the homeowners starting Jan 2006. Only high efficiency, very quite, split systems were approved. Many other condo units DO NOT have Air Conditioning due to the high cost ($15-20K) of installing the approved system and the increased electricity cost to operate the system. On Maui electricity costs $0.35-$0.45kwh vs. $0.05-$0.20kwh on the mainland.
