Do other carriers offer the same messaging features that Sprint offers with Text Messaging?
No. Sprint’s Text Messaging service offers some unique capabilities, such as delivery confirmation and a 500-character message size. Unfortunately, all carriers cannot support these features. So, while delivery confirmation is not available when sending inter-carrier messages, you may still request delivery confirmation for messages sent to Nextel subscribers. With regards to message size some wireless carriers limit the incoming message size. Text Messaging supports 500-characters per message (both incoming and outgoing). If you send a 500-character message to a subscriber with a more limited message size, the message will automatically be divided into separate messages and sent to the recipient.
