Do Orthodox Christians dislike Catholics and vice versa?
In general Orthodox Christians do not hate Catholics, though there may be some who do, and others who might disparage them to a smaller degree. Here are some thoughts on why this might be the case. Note that I’m not defending it – I think it’s unChristian, as well as useless – I’m just thinking about motives. – The crusades – some folks are still holding a grudge – inferiority complex – the Catholic Church is big and prominent, and is always in the news (for better or for worse); folks listen to what the Catholic Church has to say, even if (or especially if) they don’t agree. – Catholics (as individuals, anyway; can’t say for official stance) seem to have a more lenient attitude toward other Christians (I’m thinking of communion, for instance), while the Orthodox are more exclusive (which is consistent with Orthodox doctrine), so that could explain why Catholics don’t seem to disparage Orthodox as much. – over-developed sense of exclusivity, to the point of triumphalism Please don’t ho
