Do offshore wind turbines create a barrier to recreational vessels?
For safety reasons during the construction phase all vessel traffic will be prohibited from the wind park site. However during the operational phase sailing vessels will be able to enter the wind park area. Spacing between the turbines is yet to be determined but will be between 700m and 1km, leaving enough room for small vessels to pass through the wind park. Eneco will consult with both the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and the Royal Yachting Association as well as local sailing clubs over the proposals.
