Do Nova Scotia – Newfoundland speak for all Atlantic Canada?
Below is the full text of a letter sent by Premier Shawn Graham to PM Harper re: New Brunswick’s position on Equalization and the inclusion of natural resource revenues in that formula. This letter has been highlighted for emphasis, but has not been redacted in any way. As you will see, the Premier and our province takes the position of the majority of provinces in Canada – that is not supporting Nova Scotia and Newfoundland having a special advantage over the others in the fiscal ability to provide essential services. When the media reports that “Atlantic Canada support for the Prime Minister is plummeting…” we need to realize that this is not exactly true. Only in the provinces where the Premiers are presenting one side of the story is there are drop in support.
