Do Nirvanas lyrics actually mean anything?
No, you’re right, they suck. I understand imagery and symbolism, to a certain extent its beautiful and poetic but when you go over the top and try to communicate something with people and the don’t understand you, you would be better off as an instrumental artist. People that say Nirvana’s lyrics are great are trying to pass themselves off as intellectuals fooling people into thinking they are deep, smart, whatever cos they can “understand” Nirvana’s lyrics.
I think before asking such a question, you should look more into Nirvana lyrics. Yes, the vast majority of their songs were quite deep, whereas I won’t deny that some of them weren’t at all. But I think you need to realise you have to look into a little more before you can understand what it means. Kurt was an excellent songwriter.
