Network Solutions uses the standard X.509, version 3 to construct Digital Certificates for use within the Network Solutions PKI. X.509v3 allows a Certification Authority (CA) to add certain certificate extensions to the basic certificate structure. Network Solutions use a number of certificate extensions for the purposes intended by X.509v3 as per Amendment 1 to ISO/IEC 9594-8, 1995. X.509v3 is the standard of the International Telecommunications Union for digital certificates.
