Do most students go away for a semester or a year?
With the exception of approved programs designated yearlong only, students who plan to study off campus for more than one semester must petition COSA. The student should be prepared to explain how the second semester abroad would substantially benefit her academically. When petitioning for study in two different countries, it is important to check the program dates and visa requirements of the two programs to ensure that the combination and sequence of the two programs is feasible. Petition guidelines are available in the OCS office with deadlines in late October for programs the following fall and in late March for the following spring.
