Do most people living in the Mediterranean region belong to the Greek Orthodox or Roman Catholic Church?
Prior to the 15th Century, most of the people around the Mediterranean Sea belonged to the Eastern Orthodox Church, but after the 15th Century (following the Seige of Constantinople in 1453 AD) some of the Western countries, such as Spain, Italy and France were Roman Catholic. Christians living in the Eastern countries, such as Greece, Asia Minor (Turkey), Egypt, North Africa, Israel and the Middle East mainly belong to the Orthodox Church.
