Do most businesses consider the cost of Pre-Sales Engineers as part of Cost of Sales or Overhead?

This was selected as Best Answer Hi Matt, I have always seen Pre-Sales Engineers are part of overhead since they are part of the sales function. There may be times that they have been at a customer site for a day and we have invoiced the customer for the work they did that day. In this case, we have reclassed the proportionate cost of the engineer’s time to Cost of Sales. However, we always had a SOW to support this reclass as well as an invoice to the customer. Hope this helps.
