Do most beginner runners get shin splints?
Oh yeah, that is your body telling you big time that you did too much too soon or too fast. Shin splints are very common in beginner runners & also in more experienced runners because of running an excess amt of mileage per week. The body needs to adapt to what is being asked of it to do. I would start off slow & you will find that you will go alot further distance. Speed will come later, just go for the endurance & to stay away from injury. Injury sucks, I have had it with my knee. It is better to be smart & stop to take a walk break & then finish the rest of the run at a light pace. Shin splints suck, I don’t miss them.
