Do modern street gangs make as much money as the mafia did(or does)?
No, but it is a common misconception that they do. First of all, the mafia was no street gang honey. Second, don’t get me wrong, they are making large sums of money comparatively speaking to someone that works at McDonalds, but its not old school Italian Mafia money. The way Crips, Bloods & MS-13 make their cash usually involves prostitution rings, petty theft, car theft & drug dealing. The higher ups that they get their drugs from are often times not even affiliated with the gang, but the highest up on the chain of distributors of the drugs make the most money. MS-13 is more into the marijuana/cocaine kind of deal, while some of the Crips & Bloods are into often into dealing ecstasy/weed/meth. Tweakers don’t make as much as coke dealers, that I can tell you. And prostitution rings were NOT for the Mafia, that is a new age gang way of making money. No one was forced to hook back in the day. Now people are kidnapped & forced, you hear about it at your local towns & cities all the time.
