Do MN residents get a Federal energy tax credit for re-shingling their home?

There is a $1500 federal tax credit available until the end of 2010 for various home improvements to include re-roofing. As stated by the IRS, here is what is eligible for a credit when it comes to re-roofing: “Pigmented metal roofs designed to reduce heat gain, and asphalt roofs with appropriate cooling granules.” However, re-roofing with shingles that have cooling granules is not really necessary due to our climate and these types of shingles are not widely available in Minnesota. For more details on this credit refer to the Database of Incentives website. There is contact information at the bottom of the page for the IRS.
