Do Mesaba Airlines employees fly free to Hawaii?
I don’t fly for Mesaba but my airline is comparable to them and contracted with Northwest as well. Here’s how it works. The employee and immediate family(spouse, children, step children) fly free domestically (Hawaii would be domestic, yes), and when flying internationally the actual flight is free but the employee is responsible for any taxes levied by the foreign airport. Parents of the employee can fly as often as they please, unaccompanied, at a reduced rate. If the employee is single then they may choose one person as a registered travel companion, this person also flies as often as desired, unaccompanied, at a reduced rate. Anyone else would be flown on what is known as a buddy pass, the employee receives a limited number of these a year and must accompany the “buddy”, the buddy flies for a reduced rate.
