Do menthol cigarettes really have fiber glass in them?
All filtered cigarettes have a little bit of fiberglass in the filter. Menthol cigarettes and “normal” cigarettes are no different in this respect. However, many years ago, cigarette manufacturers found out that too much fiberglass in the filter caused excess coughing when inhaled, so they started reducing the amount that was in the filter itself. They have eliminated a lot of it, but it is still an ingredient used to make all filters today. You probably want to know why they still use any at all. I haven’t been able to find an official answer, but my guess is that it helps cool the smoke as it passes through the filter. Since fiberglass helps prevent the transfer of heat, it makes sense that this is one of the reasons it is still in use. Hope this helps.
